Try cutting the hole in the BOTTOM of your Jack O’ Lantern when you carve it
► You can level a crooked pumpkin bottom to get it to stand straight.
► Lighting the candle is easier.
► It is safer since the candle sits on a level surface.
Put the candle in an approved holder, place it on a level, fire resistant surface and light it.
Lower the Jack O’ Lantern over the lit candle.
Unless you want a cooked pumpkin, you will need to cut a chimney in the top of the Jack O’ Lantern to let heat escape. Allow the candle to burn for a few minutes. Lift the Jack O’ Lantern from the candle and look inside. You should see the spot where the candle is heating the top of the pumpkin. Cut a small triangle in this area, replace the Jack O’ Lantern over the candle, and enjoy your work of art!
Never leave a burning candle unattended, and always remember to extinguish it when your festivities end.
