Who Makes our Candles?
From its humble beginning in the Benton's basement Creative Candles soon relocated to a space rented for a dollar a day. The Bentons filled a booth at the 1961 Kansas City Plaza Art Fair with the tall, elegant tapers and hand-dipped Technicolor candles that have become Creative Candles' forte. The formula for Creative Candles' tapers is only marginally altered from the Benton's first effort. Among the company's employees are carvers (hunched over boxes of wax shavings), dippers and wrappers, each contributing to the Benton's pledge to personalize their product. And Creative Candles' modest size aligns with their dedication to hand-crafter detail. Today the company's customers include the White House, Lincoln Center, The Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong, and florists in all corners of the planet. |

Candles is the world-renowned candle company founded nearly 40 years
ago by Duane and Nancy Benton. Located in Kansas City, Missouri,
it is neither a mom-and-pop operation nor a behemoth factory churning
out candles on conveyer belts. It is the result of the Bentons'
dream to create a one-of-a-kind product that, in its own way, makes
each consumer's world just a little more beautiful.
